After wanting to do it for years, I'm finally rebranding. Read the post learn the who, what, when, and why's in this post!
First, I have to say thank you so much for all of your support and for reading my blog! The fact that I get to do this for a living is such a dream come true and I owe it to all of you. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Words aren't at all sufficient, but since I can't actually meet each one of you in person to thank you profusely and hug you repeatedly, it's the best I can do. Even though you deserve much better :)
Okay, so if you follow me over on Instagram, you know that I've decided to rebrand! I've given you some hints over there and have been getting lots and lots of questions, so I figured I'd share the details of who, what, when, and why today on the blog.
Naturally, this is the most common question I have received. The big question of so WHO is Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body going to become. Well friends, I've very excited to announce that soon we are officially becoming Kaleidoscope Living™! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! We haven't finalized the logo yet, but here's a peek at the concept we are moving forward with.
I settled on Kaleidoscope Living™ for a few reasons. Obviously, it does relate to my love of color. But I was mostly drawn to it because kaleidoscopes change the way we see even ordinary things. Through a kaleidoscope, ordinary things become beautiful. That’s exactly the transformation I love to help people with. Turning their ordinary houses into extraordinary homes that they love. Improving their lives by changing the lens that they look at the world through.
Our mission at Kaleidoscope Living™ is to inspire people to live beautiful lives that start with their homes.
Oh my goodness! I can't believe how many of you are truly curious about why we are making a change. I'll do my best to explain :)
1) I gave pretty much no thought to my blog name when I launched it 5 years ago. It was only ever supposed to be a hobby and I launched my blog (on Blogger, initially) sitting at my desk in my law firm one day. I thought the name was kind of funny, but I also thought no one would ever read it, so I didn't think about long-term implications.
2) Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body is such a mouthful and is soooooooo long. I want something a bit more simple.
3) I gave up the practice of law almost 3 years ago to blog full-time, so the name doesn't even make sense anymore.
4) I have a long-term vision for where my company is going, and Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body just doesn't fit with that vision at all.
What and when?
Of course, there will be a brand new logo and new (super fun) brand colors. But most importantly, the rebrand signals a whole new level of focus for me and my team of two amazing women who help me do what I do. It signifies a recommitment to serving YOU, our audience, in the best way possible.
Don't worry–we aren't making any major changes to what we actually share here on the blog. We will still be sharing lots of DIY projects, design advice, simple crafts, easy recipes, and attainable fashion tips.
In early December, you will see me change my social media handles and the new logo will appear on my site. But we aren't going to actually change the URL until January (for a variety of reasons I won't bore you with). In early January, we will also be redesigning the site with the rebrand, so you will see some changes. Our goal is to give you a new layout that is more user-friendly! We are very excited about making things better for you.
Beyond that, the rebrand won't have any major effect on you. All the traffic to designertrapped.com will simply redirect to kaleidoscopeliving.com beginning in January. From a user standpoint, it should be pretty painless. We HOPE the process goes pretty smoothly, but I imagine there will be some unexpected surprises along the way. I hope you all will bear with us and be patient if that is the case :)
So there you have it! I hope you are as excited as I am about this rebrand! I think it's going to be an amazing change for us and for you!!!!
