Thank you to Mohawk Consumer Products for sponsoring this post.

Hey friends! I'm super excited to share this DIY curtain tie backs project with you today! Why? Well, because when I went hunting for pretty and fun curtain tie backs for Avery's bed nook (don't worry, her full room reveal is coming soon), I couldn't find anything I loved. They were all either way too gauche or boring. Plus, I couldn't find any that would mount to the door frame of her bed nook the way I wanted them to. Sooooo…. I made my own and I love them! Of course, you could make them with any size wood beads you like and can choose any stain color, so the options are limitless. Read on to learn how to make your very own DIY curtain tie backs. It's a 15 minute project and your kids could totally help with it!

How to Make Curtain Tie Backs

OMG, I absolutely love these DIY curtain tie backs and they are so much cuter than any store-bought curtain tie backs I have seen. Learn how to make your own curtain tie backs with this detailed tutorial. They only take about 15 minutes to make!

STEPS:

This short video will give you a good overview of the project, then you can read the step-by-step instructions below :)

1) Dye your beads. Pour a little bit of the Behlen Solar Lux Stain into a bowl and swirl it gently to coat the beads.

2) Wipe off the excess stain with paper towels. Set your stained beads aside until fully dry.

Then I removed them and wiped off the excess stain with a paper towel.

3) Tie a loop knot at one end of your suede cord then cut your cord to length (approximately 24 inches).

5) Tie another loop knot at the end of your suede cord once you are done threading your beads on.

6) Use a simple nail to secure the tie backs around your curtains :)

So, so easy, right?! And I just adore how these DIY curtain tie backs turned out. Take a look at them in Avery's room (PS- I am totally jealous of her bed nook–it's SO cozy)!
